Remembering the soft green grass in the yards of Ohio, my home.
         KENTUCKY BLUEGRASS

Each sprout stands proud and alone, yet side-by-side a dense army,
tiny daggers soft and tall, enticing as beer and blarney.
Winds force blades to bend and bow, as a created symphony,
voices blending in chorus of silence, clean chaste harmony.
Bare feet relish its coolness ~ delight as it tickles the toes.
Summer's prancing children setup the sprinklers, hookup the hose.
Spring rains color it green, an unveiling after winter snows.
Wild flowering meadows bedazzle, hushing hint of smarmy.
Sowing seeds create sodded fields, their yields bearing fresh money
to pay for sod harvesting tractors ~ yesteryears' rakes and hoes.
