My First (and probably last) Burns Stanza
This poem is written as a Burns Stanza. It is very difficult to write. Give it a try. Rules: You must have six lines. Rhyme the first three lines of eight syllables each with each other, and also with the fifth line, which also has eight syllables. The fourth and sixth lines have four syllables and rhyme with each other.

This poem sees the Iraqi war through the eyes of a resident. It is not meant to be a political statement either for or against the war. It is simply an observation. Enjoy.

Iraqi Woman

Fierce soldiers stalk with loaded guns
She turns to stay, she will not run
While others peer through tiny cracks
She stands her ground
Guns point at her, she rears stiff back
She makes no sound

Fear chokes her breath, she'll suffocate
Thick sweat pops out - can't run - too late
Death has already claimed her mate
No use to cry
War's terror comes to seal her fate
... now she must die
