Do we combine for the right reasons?
Sand and water;
our sinew and blood.
Neither rises to the other,
nor seeks to overcome.

We can't battle.
         You bring your burning blazes.
         I bring the iced, iced cold.

Winter and nicotine;
summers of illicit drugs.
Are we what we seem,
or knowing better not to become?

This paper bridge is falling down.
         You hold the match
         while I pour gasoline.

Honor and renaissance;
mischief and basic information.
Are our fates left to promise?
Or stuck twisting in the wind?

The elements created this.
         Is it what cements us,
         or does it serve to weigh us down?

Sand and water;
our only chance?
Neither becomes the other.
Soaking in only to become glass.

The hourglass versus the rainstorm.
         Are we containing love,
         or just transparent?
