The tiniest of irritations can suffocate
Hairs have descended upon

and devoured these clean rooms

Twisted wretched tendrils

invading in multitudes

Hairs atop my pillows,

as well between the sheets

Hairs that cling to my knickers

when I arise from the sofa seat

Hairs reptilian among the table,

evading disconcerted glares

And reveal their filth on tines of fork

as I'm to poke a prickly pear

Hairs that cling to jackets, coats

my shirts, my shoes, my ties

Hairs that weave into my beard

and hairs that itch my eyes!

Hairs that will not dissipate

not mattering of execution style

They multiply like maggots and mites

to smother and defile

I find them in crevices,

they pack into the nooks

They slither in between the pages

of never-opened books!

They cover me in reality

and asphyxiate me in my dreams

These dastardly little, satan-spawn crinklies

have brought me to my knees!
