My few ideas on how smells impact us.
Smells.
They bring about such interesting memories: of the first day at any school, of my Kindergarten teacher, of my parent's bedroom, of my summer working at a camp, of my first boyfriend's cologne.  Sometimes they will sneak up on you and you are thinking back to those times and not realize why.  Other times, you will relish the smell and then remember why.  You will remember what was so important about that time.  How that time affected you then and still impacts you today.  Can we really have that much space in our brain to connect smell to memory with events?  The vastness of our mental capabilities amazes me.
