Just because you are depressed doesn't make sin right.
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
2 Corinthians 7:10
This means mental torture and depression for messing up isn't the right response to sin. Godly sorry moves you through forgiveness (both from God and yourself!) into change and freedom from guilt!
