A revelation that may have come too late.
You know, maybe
(And I don't admit this often)
I was wrong.
Perhaps I have been harsh
In judging the cosmos,
And people are not
The sadists
I presumed they are, and
God does not
Feast upon misery;
And all good things are
Not mere fabrications
Of reality-starved minds.
I only wish
I could have had this epiphany sooner
Before I stomped the earth, slumped
With a knowing scowl and
Biting cynicism,
Declaring that life is not as lovely
As so many fantasize it to be.
Life is not a bitch and then you die
Life is an opportunity
And then you go to heaven.
