Kindle finds out why Samantha is appearing to her.
When Kindle woke up the next morning she didn't feel like she slept very well. It was like she had been awake all night. She didn't remember dreaming but she must have, she always did. Kindle spent the next couple of days working and reading. She tried to learn everything that she could from the book.
But as the days flew bye Kindle began feel more tired and drained. She tried to go to bed earlier and earlier but she just couldn't seem to get enough sleep. Kindle couldn't help it but she started coming in late to work. Madeline figured that Kindle had come down with the flu so she gave Kindle some time off. Kindle tried to argue but Madeline wouldn't hear it.
Kindle did what she was told, but as soon as she got home something very strange happened. She lay down on her bed and began to dream immediately.
She was sitting with a woman in the cabin. It was Samantha. Kindle had so many questions for Samantha, but before she had a chance to ask any of them Samantha began to speak.
"The way of the Witch is pure, but like so many things it has been tainted by selfishness.
"Living is simple; everyone has free will to do what they wish, it is only what you chose to do with your life that makes up who you are.
"Witchcraft is feared because people remember the bad and easily forget the good. The power of the craft comes from the neutral energies of the earth, and it is what you use the power for that defines whether the result is good or evil.
"Let me clarify. The terms good and evil are human born. It is what is used to define the energies you put out into existence. Good is the useful energy that can be molded into accomplishment and fruitfulness. Evil on the other hand is only used to hinder and kill the dreams and hopes of yourself and others. Never expect to only hurt others with your actions. Negative energy you produce will stick to you like a cancer and multiply three fold all the while, in turn you're negative and so called evil actions are more so evil upon yourself. Is it worth it?
"This is a lesson you must learn before you can reach your full potential in becoming the Keeper of the Craft.
"The Keeper cannot keep someone from doing what they wish nor can they control or hinder another's free will. You are not a warrior just a guardian and it is wise to remember that. There have been major battles lost in this world when people take it upon themselves to choose what is right and what is wrong.
"No man or woman knows what is correct for all others. For every person, a single life is but a short chapter on a journey to purity. Each are born in a different time on their own path and what may be right for one may not be so for another. So is the key; do what ye will, but refrain from harming others in turn, and so mote it be.
"Kindle you are the Keeper of the craft. The craft will teach you that what you must know to take it upon yourself to create a path of enlightenment. For the importance of you journey in this life may be more than the previous, more trying than others endure."
Samantha stopped for a moment with a heavy sigh. Kindle could tell that in her eyes there was so much more to know. But instead of elaborating on why this life had so much importance, Samantha continued on a different path.
"The human brain can only go so far and learn so much, but the part of every person that is classified as the soul or the intuition is capable of so much more. It is actually the brain that keeps most from believing in possibilities.
"It is your job to continue as the Keeper like so many before you. Witches are not gone like so many believe. They are just hidden. It is no longer known to most that we still live among them. Whether the craft is used for selfish gain or for good, most are none the wiser." Samantha picked up the book and turned to a page.
"It will be a long journey Kindle but you have all of the tools, and I will be here to help as long as I can. You have a lot of catching up to do."
"But why me?" Kindle asked confused and frustrated.
"Kindle, it is easy to do nothing and leave the responsibility for others, and hard to take a burden on your own shoulders. Do not let yourself think why me, rather why not me. It is your turn Kindle, to continue this journey." Samantha said sternly.
That was not the answer that Kindle was looking for, but before she had a chance to question Samantha further everything went black and Kindle slept.
When she woke up it was late in the day, or was it early morning? She didn't care, Kindle remembered the dream of Samantha vividly but dismissed it as just that, a dream. It didn't make any sense. Kindle couldn't help but wonder what she was doing with her life. She had run away from her home town and trouble had followed her just like it always did. Kindle didn't feel like leaving though this time she would stick it out. Kindle couldn't help but feeling like she was missing something. It was like the life she had lived so far wasn't real. She felt like she had amnesia and just couldn't remember who she really was.
Kindle began to think about the book and the mirror again. Ever since she had found these two very simple objects, they seemed to control her life. It was very strange now that she thought about it. She had been dreaming about the book for years and now she finally had it. She could touch it and read it any time she liked. But what was it for? If she was to be the Keeper of the Craft, then she had to be missing something. And more than that, who was Samantha and how did she end up in the mirror explaining a legend to Kindle.
Kindle decided to leave the book in the armoire and forget about it for the time being. But she couldn't stop thinking, why me?
