What happens when you dream wide awake.
Almighty, I pray to thee
I offer my mind, body and soul.
For that of fair repentance before final judgment.

The green traffic light turned straight to red.
fourth to first has never come so sudden.
bringing this beast of a belle to a stop had to have awakened something.
For as suddenly red came to me, green came to be.

I hit the clutch.
First to second.
Second to third.
Third to fourth.

Then I see you.

Here we go again,
fourth to third. third to second.
giving you enough time to cross this eerily lit downtown street

I get a tingling, yet fluttery sensation from deep within my ribs.
As though a bird were trapped within the concubines of a cheap iron cage

I watch in disbelief as you make your way to the safety clearing my opposing lane.
Black as the night itself, your figure sends an all too familiar chill down my spine. Something strange, out of place, and demeaning has filled the air as I take my final breath before passing you by. As I pass, I feel your eyes on me- longing to be seen.

Second to third. Third to fourth.

With cool night air pouring in
I feel the demons amongst me
each mile becomes me
the eyes of Satan’s children are before me, glowing red as his fire itself
as the passengers ahead slow their steady- in preparation of stop.

Stop has come. Stop has gone.

Speed picks up, we're now back

Fourth to fifth.

I know the feeling all too well, I realize suddenly.
I'm free as the night sky, until the clouds roll in and thunder strikes.

Five of Satan’s children beam their eyes in a hurried and uncanny motion.

Five to four?
Four to three?

Alas my child, you were not destined to see your new twin nephews enter the world.

Gears grind, as Satan’s children laugh at me.
It all happens so quickly
Metal, Glass, Gasoline, and the fire within my soul ignite with a final gust of tonight's summer breeze.

I think to myself, why me?

Fast as the light turns red.
Fast as a camera releases its shutter.
I'm no longer with you.

Red light?

no my child.
as I recall it then turned green.

I watched you downshift into this life you've come to love.
I watched as you were chilled by my dark presence.

Who but you- would understand by reasoning for entering your life?

So I watched as you took your final breath before passing me by.
