Chapter Thirty - The Mote of the Castle

Having secured the old scrolls
from the crypts of Tara’s fold
Quickly exited the opposite door
they had entered only minutes before

Following Lilith’s lead wound through a dark corridor
Winding switchbacks elevating then declining for
What seemed like miles in the murky lair,
Water made dense the thick and heavy air.

Lilith was waiting for them as they made a sharp right turn
“A boat awaits us directly ahead, we can ride the stern?”
“Yes, when we exit this canal,” DragonBlue replied,
“My wings outstretched will serve as sail with the wind to ride.”

MoonChild chuckled softly at the thought
As she carefully boarded then stopped
While Lilith carefully balanced their weight
DragonBlue between them perched as first mate
Working the oars to move them quickly
Through the dense waterway quietly.
She bent low to miss the archway
As they departed the moat conclave
Into a clear blue, wide open lake
Spanning her wings catching a small wake
As a breeze whisked them to the beach.

The humans towed the boat until in reached
The water’s edge as DragonBlue launched
Into the air so that she glided onto the sand.
Focusing her gaze on the horizon, she scanned.

She spied an odd mark in the hillside
Then the wolf turned his yellow eyes
Meeting Dragon Blues, as the Dark Wolf’s form
Brought primal fear dreaded alas forlorn.
