A piece written after a summer romance was unwillingly ended.
The Death of Summer

Heaven began in the heat of the blessed summer,
When the magical touch of sun fell softly upon the rosebud
Like golden tears from the summer gods
As the vermilion, velvet petals opened and stretched
To embrace the warmth of the sweet summer kiss
In a stilled moment of ethereal bliss.

Love emanated from the golden touch of sun
Caressing the soft folds of the voluptuous petals.
Love was encompassed in the delicate glow
Of the timid bud, now become a rapturous rose.
Tangible lovers, yearning to be together
Yet destined to be apart, admiring each other from afar.

The temperamental hands of fate overtook their love
As the swift, somber stranger of Time took his toll.
With vague sadness etched in the darkening sky,
The scarlet sun melted into a bleak horizon.
The silken petals of the rose fell softly to the ground,
Silent tears of muted agony extinguishing a fire.
