I wrote this while thinking of things that went wrong in my life. Sad and a bit nostalgic.
Questioning my life
The things that I don't understand
I throw a pebble out to sea,
And fall heavy upon the sand.

The waves are crashing down
Upon these helpless little specks,
like raging tyrants of life
flinging souls down on the decks.

The sun is burning hot,
And the water sparkles blue,
Yet in my darkened eyes,
I see reflections of you.

Your face I can't forget,
Your voice is haunting me,
Even on this lonely beach,
Even in this tranquil sea.

I look down at the castle
Formed crudely in the stones,
Some innocent child at play,
I'm feeling so alone.

I think about a kid,
As a sailboat passes by,
A child with no childhood,
No love within her eyes.

The child I think of is me,
I draw a heart into the ground,
And I listen to mine beating,
There are no other sounds.

That child is sitting here
Her mind wanders to the deep,
She hopes not to wake again,
As she passes into sleep.
