A debt too deep
I have a debt that can’t be paid,
No matter how I try.
It came with me so long ago
I’ll keep it till I die.

My mother suffered in my birth,
My father by her side.
A bouncing baby to them was born
To become these parent’s pride.

Through my childhood they protected me
They suffered to show the way.
Through their wisdom and by example
They made me, as I am today.

For all their love and kindness
For every worry and each tear,
Somehow I must repay them
But, too little time is left I fear.

I think that I have found a way
At least a way to start
Mom and Dad “Thank you”
For giving from your heart
