SURPRISE!!

“Oh my chest… can’t breathe.” Grandpa collapsed. How frightening!

“Someone call 911, fast!”

A circle of family formed. Uncle Jack administered CPR – too late. An elderly body lay lifeless on Aunt Pam’s dining room rug. Chocolate birthday cake decorated with orange, yellow, blue balloons sat abandoned. Bright streamers hung silent, still. Emergency vehicle lights flickered around the entire neighborhood while everyone witnessed poor Paps being loaded into awaiting ambulance, and then rushed to nearby hospital.

End result, DOA from cardiac arrest.

Grandma smiled discreetly behind her pink handkerchief. I knew that old fart’s ticker would give out. She thought.
