This will be used in an upcoming stage performance focused on the era of the 1940s

Dreaming About The future

1940, dreaming... dreaming about a future, a future without you

A future of peace
Peace enough for the Games to be hosted by China
This year the games were cancelled due to this war we call
World War II

A future of electric powered vehicles by the mass
In honor of Walter P. Chrysler who has passed,
August of this year 1940
A future where no longer we will pay
11 cents per gallon for gas

A future with Television in color
With over 1000 stations to choose
Since this year the FCC began developing
Television rules

A future with knee length skirts easier to find
Since this year the nylon stocking is sold for the very first time

A future where cartoons become video games
Since this year “Tom & Jerry” debut by MGM
Now that’s what we call fame

A future where our friends the McDonalds have hamburger franchises
In cities worldwide
Since this year was the grand opening of their hamburger stand at their drive-in
Wow, did you know? This year hamburger costs only 15 cents per pound

A future with a life expectation of eighty
Since technology and knowledge will help the doctors fix me
Not like today when I can only realistically expect to live until I am 60

A future when I can sell my house for $200,000 dollars
When I purchased it this year for $4,000
Now that is a reason for someone to holler

A future when a man can rent a condo out for $600.00
When this year he can only get $30.00 a month

A future in which I can afford to buy a brand new car
You know this year they only cost $850.00

A future where postage stamps become collectables
Especially the three cent stamps of today
A future with a phone that can ease our finger’s bones
Be hooked to your ear
And used while driving
Unlike today’s high tech dial phones

A future with farmers making what they deserve
A fortune for their working legs
You know today we only pay 50cents per gallon of milk
And 19 cents per dozen of eggs

I am dreaming of a future where I am always fed
Where a single loaf of fresh baked bread
Will hold a value of twenty of today’s 8 cents per loaf for bread

I am dreaming of a future where Nostalgia includes
The prices of items and values held true
Reminiscing about the life of today
October 18, 1940 and through
While thankful for the future
But 1940, lovingly missing you
