Forgiveness for years of abuse
Dad, I don’t know how I angered you so
After 50+ years I still don’t know.

It is time for me, for me to let go
For now it’s time for my light to show.

I forgive yet not forget
I’ll no longer live in your tangled net.

The pains, the hurts, once passed on
From my life are forever gone.

This is not about you, you must see
For this is my life, and happy I’ll be.

Not for others love to gain,
But to live each day free of your chain.

I must keep on, not looking back
For if I do you’ll surely attack.

It’s up to me for now I’ve seen,
To live with you only keeps me mean.

So off I go, my life to live
With all my love, so much to give.

I thank you for the life you gave,
You control me no more, from your deep grave.
