A night of mistakes leaves a heart changed.
A Poem a Day Trophy

Desperation, conscience come to life,
as husband stares at betrayed wife.
Glittering jewelry, flowers of red,
peering into eyes that are dead.

Invincibility allowed the world to crumble.
Empty apologies are all he can mumble.
No feeling left in her; her heart is numb,
breaking at realization of what he has done.

Anger flares at meaningless speech.
What lesson is life trying to teach?
Faith failed and faded all too fast.
Where is the love promised to last?

Her dreams killed in one adulterous night.
“You took it away, now make it right!
Give back the spark, come light the fuse;
heal my pain. I can't bear this abuse.”

Frustration at pain caused by sin,
unsure if her heart can return to him.
Arms reach to hold a woman broken.
Silence screams, no words spoken.

Desolate shell lies guarded in his arms,
immune now to passion and charms.
Tears of fear and regret slide down her face,
wishing the lustful night could be erased.

All this lost for a woman casually met;
a woman, a meeting, wife will never forget.
Emotions exposed, raw, and bleeding,
"Erase the hurt," her soul is pleading.
