A look at romance in professional life - a poem.
A thoughtful look, in my direction
Yes, she does know me
From my appreciative, friendly voice
Catching her unwitting attention.
Her look is full of energy and purpose
She grins and asks how things are going
I do not tremble or lose any eye contact
Adhering to professional conduct,
A true and talented friend for the past few years.
She looks gorgeous and healthy today
Every hair neatly in place
In a peachy, casual business outfit.
Everything’s fine and good,
Nice to see you, then a polite but purposeful goodbye,
Leaving nothing to chance.
Our mutual admiration and highest respect
For each other well deserved,
For you will never find two more perceptive, kind,
And decent people.
But as potential, inseparable lovers
In truth, we are world’s apart from the dynamic
Which would lead to sexual bliss.
But still, the raw meat is there,
Requiring attention, as earlier today
When I was seeking her gaze and youthful attraction…
