Only a memory remains at the last place where love was encountered.
Fiery nights, presses upon the crisp lips of
Bitter winds
While the moon, illuminate mysteries beyond
The lip locking session
Between earth the earth and sky, a tear
Falls helplessly from
A vagabond’s eye, souring the bitter
Sweetness of a sea’s retreat, back into
The essence of its own ethereal void;
Dragging along
With it
Fragments of life on land, discarding
Fragments of life from its belly;
OH!
Terribly, be it upon ye this enchanting sea,
Swallower of lives from the many men who marry we-
“What is left for us to do”?

As her words were carried off
Into the gulf by the lightened hand of
Death,
Stillness subdued the ripples upon its flesh,
Her companion sputtered and lightly kissed the tips of her feet
Then slowly….Lapped away.
