A childhood lullaby, which is also a reminder of a tragic past.
Instrumental version at http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6940764

I can see light dancing deep in your eyes;
It shimmers, it sways
As it moves through the night;
And at each day's end
I know I can still find
The light there to guide me home,
That dances in your eyes.

I know the daybreak will come when you smile
No matter the nightmares,
You'll chase them away;
And though the bright stars shine down
To light my way,
I long for the sun again
And long to see you smile.

I can see light dancing deep in your eyes;
It shimmers, it shines
As it burns through the dark;
And if you may leave someday
I'd wish you well,
But I'd hope to see again
The light that's in your eyes.

Intended as a character theme from a story I've yet to write. In the story, about one-in-ten of the world's population can summon and control elemental energy. There are five different types of energy (Wood, Earth, Water, Air, and Fire) and the type you use depends on your personality and your genes.

Akaite was born as a Hi-Meijin, or Fire Master. The Fire element is hardest to control, because it relies on a user with a passionate personality, and passionate people can easily let their emotions rule.

In Akaite's case, her fire-powers overwhelmed her, completely destroying her entire village--her family included. Akaite has since become a recluse, brooding over her only surviving memento: a music box she got from her father.

With Akaite missing, and no other survivors to speak of, the events that passed are still a complete mystery to passersby. The town is now known colloquially as Aschestadt, the "Ash Town".

Someday I promise to sit down and actually write this story, but who knows when that'll be...
