a poem I wrote for my sister about a few years ago
Going to be a mother
Many ideas of raising your child,
Will be given to you by one and all,
They all mean well.

But you needn’t be a philosopher.
You shall not be beguiled,
While there is no cure-all,
You may want to scream and yell.

He may cause you much sorrow,
While he makes his own plans.
Doing things you would never allow,
Breaking your planed life schedule.

You shall watch him grow,
To become a young man,
You will be proud,
As long as you remember the one rule.

Always give him his due,
With love in your heart,
He shall be true,
His lessons will never depart.
