a life perspective

" Lonely Track "

I walked along a lonely track,
my eye upon the end.
A cold wind blowing at my back,
hard times - my only friend.

The journey chosen, always rough
just couldn't get it right;
and all the jobs I'd had were tough,
the work was seldom light.

I never caught the train of wealth,
it never slowed for me.
It always came and left in stealth
and rich, I shall not be.

So here I am and here to stay,
life cannot keep me down.
It's funny how life works that way,
you either swim or drown.

But somehow things can still work out,
strong will, I do not lack
and I shall come, without a doubt,
to the end of this old track.
