Beginnings- a short drabble
The beginning was always the best. Finding the broken lost soul, lending them a compassionate shoulder to cry on, cultivating their trust was the first step. Gentle smiles, a comforting touch as they poured out their troubles, their vulnerability exhilarated him. Watching as they reached out and grabbed hold of the hope he offered, the gratitude in their eyes, the verbal and physical expressions of their thanks came next and it was glorious. Helping them rebuild shattered confidences had its own reward as they became bolder and more independent, but this step was shadowed by the realization that soon they wouldn’t have anything to offer him, that they would no longer turn him on and he would have to start over with someone new. Then again, it wasn’t so bad, the beginning was always the best.
