We bury the burdens of these treacherous times/ We lay them down, no longer ours.
Inauguration

Along the paths from autumn to eternal spring
we tarry for a moment to give thanks
for what this wintry landscape brings
a respite from the toils of harvest
a time to contemplate and plan
what seeds to sow, what new direction,
what change perchance will make next summer bloom
and what bouquets we'll have to carry
when next we have the time to tarry.

We bury the burdens of these treacherous times
We lay them down, no longer ours.
The sadness and the worries that they brought
we sever now as joy bestows us wings.

Forced from our chrysalis this wintry day
our wings pulse slow in fresh cool air,
expectant with each hope we utter,
strengthening to meet the fray ,
to flutter then, perchance to soar
and fly away.
