Written on Inauguration Day - a poetic tribute to President Barack Obama.
Having true faith in our historic, bold leader,
Our nation begins an era of resolve,
A hurting economy and terrorist danger,
Problems that Obama is trying desperately to solve.

With Bush’s two terms in the past, so unpopular,
Our former president is regrettably contrite;
The Iraq war of intelligence so peculiar –
Not handling Afghanistan and emergencies right.

A hope for peace and economic recovery,
Through policies different from the last administration.
The past eight years will soon be a memory,
Leaving behind failure and war’s consternation.

Praise for our nation’s freedom and glory,
And all who have served and died for these gains,
And for those whom Obama presents solemn worry,
No more of George Bush’s headaches and pains…

A day of celebration, this inauguration,
Filled with speeches, singers, and hope,
A shining rise to this new administration,
And a president with intelligence and leadership to cope!

An African-American is now elected president,
Showing us as a nation of progressive equality.
The most powerful and hopeful country now evident –
With Obama as president, a joyous opportunity!
