Spinning spinning lies.
Dirty legged spiders
Crawl slowly through
The reality of our relationship,
Slowly spinning.
Spin-spinning away
Creating a web of deceit.

I wonder how such beautiful
And perfect threads
Of pure white heaven
Continue to march forth.
I more picture
Something black and defective,
Starting and stopping,
Bruised, mangled,
And oft repaired.

The words again come from
The center of the web
That is your heart
"I love you."
"I don't mean to hurt you."
“Trust me.”

I can't imagine
sharing, or caring,
or loving is supposed
To feel like this,
As I bat clinging cobwebs
Away from my face
And cringe at the image
Of being cocooned, entombed
By soft threads
That become the ropes
That moored me.

Dirty legged spiders
Crawled slowly through
The reality of our relationship.
I contemplated sneaking away
From ensnarement and entrapment
As you sat quietly,
Spinning a web of deceit.
