Writer's Cramp contest entry based on a seven year anniversary
Seven years ago I stood beside this man and I promised to love him for the rest of my life. I don’t think anyone really understands “forever” but we thought we had it. Seven years is 84 months. On a cloudless Saturday afternoon we stood up in our church in front of everyone we knew. Seven years is 364 Saturdays. I remember it as a perfect day, a magical day. That was 2,548 days ago. In just under one hour, we became one family instead of two people. Seven years is 61,152 hours. We repeated after the pastor, every word of the vows we wrote ourselves. In seven years, 3,669,120 minutes rush past. When the pastor told him he could kiss the bride, we locked eyes for just a second before he pressed his lips on mine, as husband and wife. There are 220,147,200 seconds in seven years.

Seven years ago I stood beside this man and I promised to love him for the rest of my life. Seven seconds ago his heart stopped beating. Seven minutes ago, we turned off the life support machine. Seven hours ago, the doctors told me he would never wake up. Seven days ago, a drunk driver ran a red light. Seven weeks ago, we planned this trip to celebrate our anniversary. Seven months ago, we marveled at the perfection of our life. Seven years ago, we thought we had forever.

The specific prompt (for 1/24/09) is:
NEW PROMPT:
Write a STORY or POEM about a married couple celebrating their seventh wedding anniversary. The story/poem can be of any genre, any plot, but it MUST be about a seventh wedding anniversary, and it MUST include the number seven/7 -- SEVEN times. Bold the numbers (you may use the word seven or the number 7) to make it easier for the judge to find and count the seven uses of the number seven.

Any and all comments/suggestions welcome. This is a first draft, no content editing yet. Thanks!
