Writing exercise #1 1/24/09
PRINCESS

She would get up in the morning putting her tiara on her head before she even peed or brushed her teeth. Nothing I said could convince her that she didn't need to do that, that being a princess was all about what was in her mind, not the sparkle coming from the top of her head when she looked in the mirror. She got dressed with it on, ate her cereal with it on, kissed me goodbye and got out of my car going into her kindergarten class with it on. With the tiara, she didn't need or want me to walk her to the door of her classroom any more. Princesses could do that by themselves, make their own entrances, I mean.
