Hope captured by a sunrise

Rummaging for Hope
By: G E L

Rummaging within for a slit of sunrise
the kind that slips through a narrow window.
A beam of light that will not diminish.
Rays of gold shiny on the wooden planks,
lavender lightly stroked upon the walls.
Furious amber captured on a piece of glass;
Its fire concentrated, refracted,
brightness exploding into rays of needles,
true and poignant—it penetrates the grey!
Shower of illuminated specks and dusts;
like glitter sprinkled upon smooth surfaces.
Shades of bright sapphire delicately painted,
upon the pillows soft and white.
The breeze picks up the edges of the blanket…
oh the lightness by which its dainty fingers move.
These are evidence of the lingering summer warmth.
And as my hand closes around this slit of sunrise
I see how your melancholy eyes are sparkling with joy,
and my own heart is bathed with hope.
