Damp dawn dyes are fading blue and white cloud traps the pale pink and yellow hues
The damp dawn dyes are fading blue,
And white cloud, like invisible ink,
Traps the pale pink and yellow hues
In their flimsy silks and softened strands
Of curled wool.

Shadows of other times lie distanced
Somewhere in the stasis of the night.
And steeled with the sheen of green rain,
The dull bell tolls like a blunted knife,
Across the sky.

An indigo nimbus blossoms
And lilies like little water flowers,
Soft and white, and now forgotten,
Spread slow and silent as earthen stars
Might have fallen.

You say new loves are free loves here,
And the tied spider web on your eyes
Means you miss the line of beauty.
And small slipping comets are disguised,
As heady songs.

You ask me what love means to me,
The clarion call from wimple-winged
Distracts you from discovery
Of my flushed thoughts that sprawl like stars
Within my mind.

The halo-radiance seems to breathe,
Withering pallid Gemini shades,
As I take you gently in my arms,
The dim-dawn glamour begins to fade
Away from here.
