A poem about a broken heart.
Staring off into the sunset,
wondering where my heart has gone.
The pain inside is crippling,
shedding tears from dusk till dawn.

I long for days of yesteryear
when love was in my soul.
Now I sit here feeling empty,
letting sorrow take its toll.

Misery, my new best friend.
I've lost the will to fight.
I can't go on, my mind is numb.
My chest is feeling tight.

I try to focus on the light,
seek answers to my prayer.
I bow my head into my hands.
Warm breezes fill the air.

The moon is full and glowing
as I gaze up at the sky.
The pain you've caused seems endless.
Now I sit here wondering why.

I travel down a new road,
this time I'm on my own.
My heart now hides behind a wall
to ache and beat alone.

I need to let the feelings go
and once again be me.
This hole inside will slowly fill,
and I will be set free.

There comes a time to move ahead,
to cleanse and clear the mind.
Sometimes the hardest thing to do
is leaving love behind.
