Along the Red River it winds
A sixteen mile sandbag wall built,
along the riverside like a crazy quilt.
The Red River slowly pushes higher,
fear and prayers a desperate choir.
Through a crack frigid water spilt.

River bottom, mud, muck and silt
upon these solid things we dwelt.
The spring weather outlook is dire.
Sandbag wall built.

Earthen levees, patched and rebuilt,
with an iron strong will that can't wilt.
The mantle of savior is their attire,
who seek to keep the town drier,
with piles of sand grains begilt;
sandbag wall built.
