Thoughts of a friends mid-life crisis, sometimes old thoughts give new life.
EMPTY SHELL

Lifeless dream in an empty well.
A dusty stream and hollow shell.
Mighty mountain washed away,
Never upon a single day

The barely lit glowing embers,
Are not the man he remembers.
The youthful spirit’s blazing flame,
Now's a tried man. Not the same.

Once a brilliant and shinning star.
He never thought that time would mar.
But life’s duty has grown him gray,
Along with all his dreams decay.

He struggles through everyday.
Just a constant wearing away.
Something unaware. Hope is rare.
Lives a life of quiet despair.

Lost in foggy nebulous blame.
What can kindle his dimming flame?
Seize life's day! It must be taken!
That's how sleeping fires awaken!
