Sometimes you know from the very beginning that things won't work out.
I saw it in your eyes
the hurt was there from the beginning.
I have only myself to blame,
I chose to believe your smile
and your touch.

But your eyes didn't lie.
Your smile lied.
Smiling its false reassuances,
And I was blind enough to fall for it.

Your touch said
You would always be there.
Maybe you believed it, too.

But your eyes
told another story,
They said what I didn't want to believe.

I saw the pain and confusion.
I saw the scars from old wounds,
The hesitation and fear
I saw the battle you fought within yourself.

I saw it all in your eyes.
I didn't want to believe it
But your eyes didn't lie.
