Drawing on experience..*shudder*
Encircled by turn-coats,
Double-faced liars and venomous snakes,
We watch the transformation begin,
The happy smiling face twists and contorts,
The two-faced creatures hiss,
Whispering their poison into her frenzied ear
No hope of escape, no control.
Surrounded by darkness and hellfire
They watch.

They watch as the head bows,
The knees crumble
The shoulders hunch
They watch as the spirit dies
The fingers flex and rake themselves through her raven hair
The clamp about her temples till she cries out in misery

Rigid as floor boards they snap at the joints like a rusty hinge.
They can see her pulse quicken,
they can hear it in her breath.
That slouched back once defeated now snaps to attention.
The jaw sets,
The fists clench.
Her full lips reduce themselves to thin lines of determination and despair

Her heart runs cold.
Fuelled no longer by the red blood of passion,
The maniacal state she once considered happiness.
Anger and malice have replaced the healthy blood,
They’ve turned her veins to ice,
Her bones to stone
Her body is no longer her own,
Her mind barely within her control
And still they watch.

She binds her fists to her side
To protect others from her fury
How dare they?
How can they watch so complacently,
Her slow and painful demise.

The fingers clench and unclench systematically,
Like a machine
She begs, please just let me kill me.
The fists lash out
At everyone
And everything
She is no longer in control

Abandoned for all eternity
She stands alone.
The two-faced creatures hiss satisfied
She is left in the dark
In the uncertainty

She reaches for her only remedy,
The common yew tree will save her,
A small bite and all is lost.
The ice cold fist of death engulfs her slowly,
She closes her eyes,
And waits for the silence to engulf her
For the walls to swallow her whole

Knowing that if there had ever been a hand there to help her
She had destroyed them all.
