Sonnet inspired by fellow travelers during my semester in Spain.
The Traveler

She wakes at dawn to see the sun at sea,
ignores fatigue from crazy days before.
Those still sleeping have but just their dreams,
but she, for "life's so short," dreams still for more.
Up, up! To see the sights, to climb the heights,
to wander ‘round the city all the day,
and when the dark creeps towards retreating light,
change clothes and modes--her evenings are for play.
In music, meals, and friends she does delight,
Savoring smiling moments as they pass,
And when at last ‘tis time to say “good night,”
Does she lament that days are gone too fast.
Comes late to bed but early wakes to rise—
She keeps her hours free for joyful times.
