I've learned to wait for the calm after the storm.....
The Calm After the Storm

She seemed cold and distant,
and I longed to pierce the ice and feel
the warmth I knew was in her heart.

The stinging jabs of icicles
from one I love so dearly
pricked my wounded heart.

A hailstorm of words pelted me,
leaving me bruised and hurt
And waiting for the poultice of apology.

I can see the storm of emotions churn
within her until the winds of rage pass,
leaving my daughter at peace again.

The mood swings hover in the
margins of our lives, and, too often, I'm left
waiting for the calm after the storm.
