An elegy for Mark, another good friend
We had to bury a great friend today.
Instead of asking, if he would come play.

History, traveling, were some features.
Spontaneous---yet, always the teacher.

Scaling heights, playing horseshoes in the rain.
Inventor and builder, not one to wane.

Relinquish dread silence, late after dark.
Traverse to placid places, our friend Mark.

Climbing mountains, canoeing river streams.
Camping under stars, clairvoyant big dreams.

Coronado Heights, watching lights at dusk.
Combing caves with bats, Colwich now or bust!

Wondrous adventures, yet more to embark.
Certainly one cool dude, our great friend Mark.

Tonight as the sun will drift off to sleep.
We must let go now, even though we weep.

Not one to judge, or get into a scrape.
Teaching us now, how to truly escape.

Smiles etched on faces, brought forth by his spark!
Leaving splendid impressions, our friend Mark.
