I wrote this right after i got my heart broken for the first time.
I hugged my knees to my chest, and stifled a sob. I wanted to fade into the cold asphalt under me and never be found. The searing pain in my chest made it nearly impossible to breathe. I wrapped my parka jacket tighter around me, pulled my legs even closer, and let the tears stream down my face. It was so cold outside that I had a feeling that the tears were freezing before they rolled off my chin. I knew it was dangerous to be outside in just shorts, a long sleeve shirt, and a jacket when it was only twenty degrees outside, but I was too numb to go inside. I rolled slowly onto my side shivering. I lay there for what seemed like an eternity when the first snowflake trickled from above and landed on the sleeve of my jacket. I thought again about going inside but again I was too numb to make my body move.  I had never had my heart broken before, and I am sure I could have had a very long, happy life never having it broken. It’s too late now though, I’m not so sure I’m broken hearted as heartless, I think he stole it when he walked away.
