when 3 different boys become friends....wonders happen
JEREMY:
When I returned home I was sill transfixed on the lights in the sky I had seen. The beautiful iridescent purple and the enticing white. What were they from? As I walked inside, my mother was cooking dinner. “Hey Jeremy” she said “how was school?” I smiled and made up a story about how great it was and how I met tons of new friends. Even though it was all a lie, it was one I lived for her every day. After dinner and a little bit of TV I went upstairs to bed. It was a quiet night and I waited till mom was soundly asleep and quietly I slid open my window and crawled out. I had done it may times before so it was an easy task. After I was out on the sidewalk I began to walk toward the park. It was my sanctuary. No one was ever there and it was old and run down. Except for a single rusty old swing and a small hut I had built, it was just a clearing in a forest. I sat on the swing like I did so many times before and thought. My mind trailed to may things from school teachers, to mike and his bully friends, to my mother and finally the flashes of light. I began to make up stories about what they could have been. Aliens? Yeah right! A bomb? It was possible but I doubted it. Maybe they were radioactive people from underground! Ha! That idea made me smile. I went though the ideas all night until it was about three in the morning. I trudged home and got nestled in my bed quickly falling asleep.
The next morning when I was at school, a terrifying thing happened. Mike approached my lunch table where I sat alone. “Hey nerd!” he shouted loudly in my ear. “Why do you got to be so wimpy? Huh, I mean god would it kill you to grow some muscles!?” his minions laughed and I focused on a particular dot on the floor in front of them. “Hey I make you a deal ok? You and I fist fight in two months. Gives you time to beef up. And, since I’m so nice, you can have 2 friends help you. Ha! If u can find any.” He smiled and looked at me “what do you say pal?” I didn’t answer. “Ok wonderful see you in two months!” he snickered and walked away his clan of boys following him. Oh crap, I had just made the worst mistake of my life. I was going to be creamed by mike Loweritz in two months, and no one could help me.
NICK:
After I arrived in this Arizona place, I found it was quite a desirable temperature, hot and humid the way I liked it. After a quick look around the neighborhood I was supposed to live in, I found the house that my father requested I stay in. it was quant and a small size, not at all like my castle I was used to but, it would have to do. I entered the house slowly and cautiously as if I had anything to worry about. It was empty of souls, but it had a small kitchen and a nice bedroom. I did not know how to cook but soon I found cookbooks inside a cabinet. The never of my father! Me, the prince cook for myself? What kind of punishment was this? I shook my head in disbelief and found a small card place on the table in the middle of the kitchen. It read:
MY DEAR PRINCE NICK,
JUST IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING, YOU MUST ATTEND THE SCHOOL HERE IN THIS TOWN. IT IS APPERANTLY A LAW, AND THEREFORE, WE MUSENT BREAK IT.
SINCERELY, YOUR FATHER
Ugh, well this was just peachy. School? He had to be kidding. But, sure enough a big yellow bus had come in the morning and I was required to get on. I was informed that it was only the 4th day of this miserable thing called school so I hadn’t missed much. The children were afraid of me, I do not know why though, I did not look as harmful and powerful as I really was. Maybe these humans had a sixth sense to help them detect evilness in a soul. Odd, but it could be true. Once at the large and disgusting building called a school, I immediately saw a small boy, who was quite wimpy and had reddish brown hair. He intrigued me, I do not know why, but he did. So at a period devoted to eating, I walked over to his table in which he sat all alone and began conversation.
“hello.” I managed. “Your name is Jeremy right?” he smiled and looked into my dark black eyes. “Yes, and your nick right?” he said quietly but enthusiastically. I nodded and we began to talk more. A few days went on and we became what you would call friends. Father would have frowned upon this, but father wasn’t here, and quite frankly, I was glad for that. One day about two weeks after I came to this school, Jeremy which was the boys name began to tell me about the bullies who picked on him. Usually I would have laughed and joined them too, but it was almost as if I had become a new person. One who cared for the weaker and was… dare I say it, kind. Father would have hated this. He could not tolerate kindness. Then, Jeremy went on about a bet made that in two months, now one month and roughly two weeks, they would have a fight and he was allowed two friends to help him. He gave me a pleading look and I knew what I was going to say. “Jeremy,” I said “I will help you any way I can. I promise. You will never be picked on again.” And with a large toothy smile, and, no warning at all, Jeremy gave me a hug. I stiffened up like a beam of wood but relaxed quickly. It felt good to have a friend that was kind and cared about you. It also felt good to return that. But if one friend wasn’t enough, a new one was about to come along. A new friend I will never forget.
ADRIAN:
I rose from the clearing I stood in. my head hurt terribly. It was throbbing so I reached up to touch it. I felt warm blood on my fingertips and shivered. I turned around to see if I still had wings. I did, the large white feathers gracefully moving in the slight breeze. I smiled, I loved my wings took so much pride in them I would have been heartbroken if I was to not have them. I flew above a few feet, ten or so in the air and did a graceful flip and slowly sank back to the ground. My blonde hair was a mess from the fall so I tried to comb it with my fingers the best I could. After a few minutes I was presentable so I walked from the clearing westward into a small neighborhood. It was quant and pretty. Suddenly a large yellow vehicle came bustling down the quiet street. I quickly ran into a bush to hide myself and watched two boys get off the bus. One with reddish brown hair another with jet black. Maybe these two people could help me. They were my age approximately so I strode forward casually, Trying not to seem frightened of humans. “Hello!” I said in a cheerful voice. “I mean no harm to you, I just… well, I’m lost actually and I was wondering if I could find somewhere to stay. My name is Adrian.” I felt my skinny arms begin to shake from fear. The boys looked at each other uneasily then finally after a bit of silence the brunette one spoke. “We can help you. You don’t seem that harmful so you can come home with me and mom can help you find a place to stay. Oh, and by the way, I’m Jeremy and this is my friend nick.” I shook Jeremy’s hand and he had a nice firm grip. Then when I shook nick’s hand, I felt an enormous jolt of fear, as if he was the devil or something, as crazy as that sounded. I forced a smile and followed the Jeremy to his house. “Mom,” he shouted “guess what! I found two new friends today can you come meet them??” he sounded so excited as if he never had friends before. I though all humans had friends, maybe I was wrong. “Oh that’s great honey, let me meet them!” she came into the room with a large smile on her face. “What are your names?” she asked us excitedly. Nick piped up first politely saying his name and shaking her hand. She didn’t show fear the way I did. It was odd. “Mom,” Jeremy said “this is Adrian and he needs a place to stay for a while, can we help him?”He put on a pleading face and his mother searched me top to bottom with her eyes to see if there was anything wrong with me. I stood still with a small smile on my face to try to hide how scared I was. After what seemed like an eternity she smiled and nodded. Jeremy jumped up and down excitedly running to hug his mom. “Hey! Since it’s a weekend can nick stay too? Just for tonight?” his mom replaced her smile with a stern look “well, is it alright with his parents?” Jeremy looked at him, smiling hopefully. “Yeah, their cool with it.” He said. So we all went downstairs into the basement where Jeremy said we could sleep for tonight. “Ill be right back you guys.” Jeremy said, “ill go make some sandwiches, Adrian what do you want on yours?” I shrugged “ill eat pretty much anything, so to not be a burden ill have what’s easiest to make.” He smiled and ran upstairs. As soon as he was out of earshot, nick came over and sat beside me. “Ok, do you think I’m stupid? I know what you are. You can’t hide it.” He said. My eyes widened. “Um what do you mean, I’m just a normal human” he laughed a mocking laugh. “Yeah sure you are. Then how do you explain your ‘necklace’ huh Adrian? You can’t hide it. It’s a halo.” I had a twisted feeling in my stomach that had formed and it was a horrid feeling “ok,” I said trying to be cool about this whole situation. “What If I am an angel? But let me ask this, if you’re a real human how would you know my necklace was a halo. You are not human ether my friend, so what are you?” he was taken aback by my response. He bit his lip slowly and smiled. “I am Nicholas, prince of hell.” As if the knot in my stomach wasn’t enough it felt as though it had tripled in size and became ten times tighter. “Were you going to tell Jeremy? Or were you going to kill him?” I said in a mean tone. Nick snorted “I wouldn’t kill him Adrian, honest. I’m not like my father. I…I care for people. Honest I care for Jeremy.” It was odd to hear a boy my age but from a completely different world say those words. “Well,” I continued “can we try to care about each other too. I mean, just give the other a try. I know id give you a try. Will bless me with one?” he pondered this for a moment. Thinking over if it was wise or not. Then he slowly nodded. “Yeah, I will but first we need to tell Jeremy the truth about ourselves and hope he doesn’t freak out.” I smiled and that was exactly what we did. He took it quite well actually. I was surprised. Then a week had pasted and I could tell a beautiful friendship was forming in the three of us boys. It was one I’m sure to never forget.
