A dogs nightly duties, scaring off predators.
A voice we trust
has pierced the night,
"Arise and be warned,
an approaching plight!"

Hackles raised
and foaming jowls.
Their duty done
with deep drawn howls.

A creature strayed
way to close to home.
He'll have to find
somewhere else to roam.

At dawn we find
all is well and good.
The dogs are fine
and in search of food.

Property intact,
the garden is right.
Our beasts have saved
Yet another night.
