Young Forever?
The Fountain of Life

Eagerly sought by those  growing old,
the fountain of youth is a dream to unfold.

If the Elysian fields is our true destiny,
then the fountain of youth is not there for me.

The fountain of lust was a harsh wicked guide,
for the loves that I lost and the days that I cried.

The fountain of fear held much more for me,
than a chalice of water for eternity.

The fountain of blood once consumed my whole life,
I sought it out eagerly through years of rough strife.

The fountain of hate was my dearest old friend,
for within it’s tight folds I would scream for the end.

The fountain of anger has always held sway,
taking the beauty and music away.

The fountain of pity was always so near,
feeding my envy, my pride and my fear.

The fountain of joy it was so far away,
guarded by laughter and stories and play.

The fountain of wisdom would seldom come by,
hidden in parables so tricky and sly.

The fountain of life has held some pretty things,
like little boy's laughter and little girl's rings.

The fountain of youth is a poet’s lost rhyme,
seeking an answer from old father time.
