Short poem on violence in the city and it's effect on the children that live there.
Big city streets awash with blood
Terror and hate an everlasting flood
Everybody’s waiting, waiting for silence

Drugs, guns and knives are tools of the trade
You have to hate, kill and deal to make the grade
Everybody’s waiting, waiting for silence

Too old to wish on stars
Locked behind cold bars
Home is a hostile street
Tears fall for every last heartbeat
Dreams dying in a withering stream
What was once bright, now a dull gleam

Maybe it’s not too late
To turn to love from hate
Let go of the old, turn to the new
Be one of the chosen few
We’re waiting, waiting for silence
