Poem about the ending of a close friendship. Published in "A Celebration of Poets".
Tight Until The End

There once was a friendship that was going to last,
Now just a sweet memory of the past.

Not even waving as we break our separate ways,
Wishing away our most recent days.

The deadly silent words we never spoke,
Now fractured by the hearts we broke.

We said we’d be tight until the end,
I guess we said more than our destiny’s intend.

All the laughs we shared were like a road once paved,
Now just a sweet memory that wants to be saved.

You said you couldn’t be mad at me for more than a day,
I guess sometimes we don’t think about the future of the words we say.

When will we realize what we’re meant for,
Not arguing and wanting more.

Maybe one day our paths will cross again,
We will just have to endure until then.
