Autumn Passage

Autumn Passage

A blending
of fervid summer days
with the first embrace of winter chill.
A time of contemplation against a backdrop
of change as nature presses ruby
lips to the leaves in a
fond farewell.

Days grow short
and, as the nights lengthen,
the moon takes on a golden pigment
in celebration of harvest time. Nature smiles,
for this is a preparation, not
ending, for the fallow
times ahead.

Too soon, cold
will carve a frozen face,
like a child carves a pumpkin's visage,
into dormant fields and the warm colors of fall
will fade like ghosts on All Hallows' Eve.
A cycle of seasons
unending.

The fertile
promises of Spring, the
nurturing of Summer, finds closure
in the Fall. Riotous colors sway and tumble
until it is time to rest and dream
in shades of red and gold
completion.

Prompt: Autumn

Form: The Triquain, created by Shelley A. Cephas (our own ShelleyA~13 years at WDC ), is a poem with several creative variences
and can be a rhyming or non-rhyming verse. The simpliest form is a poem made up of 7 lines with 3, 6, 9, 12, 9, 6, and 3 syllables in this order. Triquain Chain: a string of 2 to 4 Triquains with a space between each triquain. Triquains are always centered.
