Along the Mississippi River are ruins of homes inhabited by ghosts.
Essence of Magnolias fill the night
glisten with a fusion of time and light.
Along muddy Mississippi banks
lay ruins of vine encrusted cypress walls.
Gentle ghosts of old joys and fears
haunt us while living in enchanting halls.

In the tenderness of years,
loveliness sweeps the heartstrings.
Nostalgia and beauty transcend decay.
Remember times of graciousness,
shimmers of dancing water, graceful sun rays.

Stolen kisses seen by knowing eyes.
Steps whisper scandalous moments.
A begrimed mirror catches those in lies.
Deals sealed over bills, brandy snifters filled.
An unfortunate daughter given in marital trade,
inherited madness, often blood spilled.
