A lullaby about darkness, and the futile attempt to repel it
Don’t Go Out when daylight fades,
Or stray too far from the light.
Keep yourself safe and warm,
Lest you fall into the EverNight.

Don’t you pray to the Wayward God
Or listen to his cries
Because anyone who does so
Is one who surely dies.

Surround yourself in company
Who surrounds themselves in light
For a room full of people can’t save you,
If you’re all headed for the EverNight.

Always be right and bright and clean
At everything you do
For one who never tries at life
Is one who sees 'them' too

Sing yourself a lullaby
And try not to make it trite
For words are your best weapon
Against the EverNight.

Do your best to stay awake
When shadows stalk on the wall
For you know that you saw them there
Though others may not have at all.

And if those shadows follow you
Then move closer to the light
For they are the force that compels you
Into the EverNight

Never slouch or slander
And love thy neighbor true
For they might be the savior
Of 'us' and me and you

Do not follow figures
Ghostly black or bright
For they are the only there, you see
To draw you in too-
