Tragic Love is a poem of a couple after they suffer tragedy, and their relationship.
Tragic Love

Icy Fingers follow me
Howling and blasting past the key
Turning silently in the door.
Entering the hall at last
Purgatory for a forgotten past
The embers in the hearth still glow.
I was just playing the part
For which I had been cast
Another lifetime ago
By the cruelest hand of fate
Hero and heroine to the last
Tragically in love.

When I called to talk on the phone
You were emotionless and detached,
Your voice seemed so distant
I felt all alone
Were you still there?

A candlestick flickers on the stair
Rose petals strewn everywhere
White satin floats on air,
The hint of some perfume
A porcelain face frozen in time
Your hand reaches out and grabs mine
Rosy red lips say they still are mine
They still taste like a red fine wine
You were sipping moments ago.

Icy veins begin to thaw
Together we have been through it all
Tenderly we cling to each other
Choosing to share the moonlight
Streaming over the wall.

Silk and lace fall to our feet
Embracing together
Like tendrils of vine
Our hearts still intertwine
Tragically in love.
