A poem I wrote, inspired by childhood memories.

Running barefoot over lush green grass
hand and hand all the while laughing
as we slip into the dancing corn stalks
also green though not as soft.

Come and catch me! smeone yells and
another burst of laughter as I follow the voice.
I am a cheater at hide-and-seek and I will
set the dog loose and follow her until I
find you.

More laughter as we trip over the ruts
in the farmer's hilly field until we
splash into a little spring and look for
the little salamanders and frogs.

The sun's rays tickle our cheeks, flushed from
running and we dabble our toes in the cold water,
still laughing at ourselves and the simple
nature of the world around us until we hear
Kids, dinner!

And for now, until tomorrow the sun will
set on our fun for the day but we still
laugh our way home.
