Best Christmas I had at home, past years

THE BEST CHRISTMAS

When the cold comes in with thick mist

when I hear fire crackers in the distance

as  the postman brings the greeting cards

then I know Christmas time is near

Christmas shopping we did with joy

buying clothes, food and greeting cards too

writing cards one week before

not forgetting to buy the X’mas tree also

Brother used to decorate the Christmas tree

while father listened to songs of Jim Reeves

mom was in the kitchen busy with drinks

they gave us their love at this past Christmas

Christmas eve, we spent at home

dinner made by mother, very tasty too

my father brought a bottle of jin

he hardly drank it but a small sip

It was walking distance to the brightly lit church

we always walked to the midnight mass

when we returned home at one thirty or so

festival started with bang and boom!

After mass relatives came one by one

first one was always ‘Harold”, brother of my mom

then came ‘Robert’, the younger one

we served them with cakes and coffee in tiny cups

This was the Christmas I used to know

father is here while mom is gone

we all remember her at this Christmas too

she gave her love to everyone I know.
